چکیده

Acuabio 1 is a mixture of proteins and essential amino acids that exerts a stimulating effect in the development of aquatic organisms. It synchronizes and accelerates fish and shrimp larvae growth on early developmental stages, as well as increases the development and size of these animals. In this work, the stimulating effect of Acuabio 1 on the immune system of Litopennaeus vannamei shrimps was demonstrated by obtaining (5.4 x 10 hemocytes/mL) greater than the control group (4.3 x 10 hemocytes /mL). The hemolymph of treated animals showed higher lectin titers (16) than the control group (8). Animals treated with Acuabio 1 increased their phenoloxidase and peroxidase activities, indicating an enhanced oxidative defense. Furthermore, Acuabio 1 decreased the number of Vibrio spp. and Pseudomonas spp. colony forming units in the culture medium, suggesting a possible prebiotic function. All these properties make Acuabio 1 very attractive to improve the production, survival rate and quality of shrimp larvae.

The dietary wood betony, Stachys lavandulifolia Vahl extract as a growth promoter and immune enhancer in common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of wood betony (WB), Stachys lavandulifolia extract on growth performance and some immune responses in common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Different concentrations of the WB extract 0, 2, 4 and 8% (g per 100 g of diet) were added to commercial diet. Each treatment was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of fish having average initial weight ...

A Review on the Effect of Arginine on Growth Performance, Meat Quality, Intestine Morphology, and Immune System of Broiler Chickens

For chickens, arginine considered an essential amino acid due to the lack of urea cycle in birds. Arginine deficiency causes growth retardation, higher prevalence of disease due to the malfunction of immune system, and lower gastrointestinal capacity. However, higher levels of arginine in the diet improved growth performance, muscle hypertrophy, and meat quality. Arginine reduces carcass fat ac...

The role of medicinal plants on the immune system of fishes

In recent years, the use of medicinal plants to prevent disease has become a common alternative to antibiotics in aquaculture. Herbal products have attracted more attention due to their special properties, such as less damage to the environment, availability and cheapness, as well as the possibility of large-scale cultivation. Increasing bacterial resistance to commercial antibiotics has increa...

Cloning and Expression of VP2 Gene of Infectious Bursal Disease Virus in Eukaryotic Cells

Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is an economically important viral disease of chickens with worldwide distribution which suppresses the immune system of young chickens. VP2 is the major host-protective protein of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). The encoding region of VP2 protein was PCR amplified from a plasmid containing a cDNA fragment of large genomic segment of IBDV, strain D78. Thi...
